The 197th Philadelphia Flower Show

The Philadelphia Flower Show (PFS) salutes the country’s 250 anniversary this year with a show titled Rooted: Origins of American Gardening.

The personal stories, creativity, and horticultural traditions that shape how we garden today are explored in the show.

Displays—from major exhibit to miniature window scenes—span 10 acres in the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Celebrating its 197th anniversary, the show will run from February 28 to March 8.

The show explores the roots of gardens. Their seeds, both literally and figuratively, are passed down through generations, carried across lands and oceans to recreate gardens in new lands by future  generations.

The show looks to the past to honor the cultures, traditions, and stories responsible for nurturing and planting the seeds of today’s gardens. The flower show offers plant lovers a chance to reflect on the gardening legacies we’ve inherited and the ones we’re growing for the future, shaped by people and plants from around the world.

This show marks the final chapter in a three-year trilogy of themes exploring the past, present, and future of gardening.

In 2024,the PFS celebrated United by Flowers, exploring the current connections and community that grow through shared gardening experiences.

In 2025, Gardens of Tomorrow explored visions of what the next generation of gardens could be.

“This year’s Flower Show feels especially personal because every plant or garden carries a story behind it. We all have memories tied to plants and Rooted: Origins of American Gardening is about sharing those diverse experiences and the ways they connect us. It will be a show filled with memory, meaning, and incredible creativity,” said Seth Pearsoll, vice president and creative director of the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show.

Run by the Philadelphia Horticultural Society, PHS features innovative gardening practices displays; competitions in horticulture and artistic floral arranging; gardening presentations and  demonstrations; as well as special events.
