“The first wild-flower of the year is like land after sea”
–Thomas Wentworth Higginson, April Days, 1861
As gardeners watch daffodils and tulips peek through the ground, the urge to sow, prune and tend their garden becomes irresistible. “In the Garden with Laura,” a website and vodcast series, was created to help you create or redesign your garden using native flowers, shrubs and ornamental trees whenever possible.
This website and the accompanying vodcasts, offer easy-to-use advise about how to design affordable gardens that will benefit native wildlife (but not, if possible, feed the deer). Another resource on this website, The Hortman Show, contains videos on topics ranging from the emerald ash borer and lawn care to composting. The website includes links and information from the University of Maryland Extension Service Master Gardeners’ Program.
Thank you for strolling “In the Garden.”
